Nestled on the border of Sikkim and West Bengal, this lake is quite a magnificent one that offers a splendid reflection of snow-clad Kanchenjunga on its tranquil waters. The lake is also known as Manokamna Lake because of its religious significance. Manokamna is a Nepalese word that means "wish." The name derives from the belief that making a wish in this lake will grant it. Visitors are frequently observed casting their wishes into the lake with their hands folded or their eyes closed. How to Reach Mulkarkha Lake
By Train: Mulkarkha Lake is around 116 kilometers from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), which is the closest railway station. A direct bus from NJP train station to Pakyong takes approximately 3 hours.
By Flight: Pakyong Airport is the closest airport to Mulkarkha, and it's about 50 kilometers away and a two-hour drive. Depending on the route, Bagdogra Airport in neighboring West Bengal is about 125-150 kilometers away. You can take a direct vehicle from Bagdogra Airport or travel to the lake.
By Road: From Siliguri and any other nearby cities such as Pakyong, a rented car is readily available to travel to Mulkarkha Lake. From Siliguri, it would take around 5 hours to cover the approximate road distance of 115 to finally reach the lake.
